In this episode I speak with Phillip Nichols who is a Genealogy Expert who specializes in Jamaican, Barbadian, and British Genealogy. We discuss the how to's to start your family research. In addition, he is a Library and Information Science grad student at the University of Maryland, College Park and has experience processing and analyzing records in libraries and archives. Phillip earned his Master of Arts in Comparative & Transnational History from the College of William & Mary and wrote his thesis about the cultural transformations of slaves from the Gold Coast to Jamaica in the 18th century. With his background in history, he knows the value of understanding the historical context of an event and location when conducting genealogy.
